Brief bio: Growing up on a country farm naturally led to hearty meals full of fresh fruits and vegetables...with lots of butter! Originally born in Gadsden, AL and later moving to Cave Spring, GA, I reached a part in my childhood where I started growing wide at the same rate as I was growing tall. It wasn't until after high school that I realized how I was able to play multiple sports and still be overweight! It was all those excess calories! So, in order to learn how to make some necessary changes and better understand the complexity of the human body, I decided to study exercise science and nutrition.

I began my fitness career as an Exercise Physiologist at the Harbin Clinic in Rome, Georgia. During my time there I gained extensive experience working with high-risk populations. Many of my clients suffered from cardiovascular disease, diabetes, various cancers, orthopedic issues, and other chronic diseases. It was during my time at Harbin that I realized the human body is not as fragile as we think. Even with difficult states of health, tailored fitness programs can prolong life and enhance our overall quality of life!

Following, in 2008 I relocated to the University of Alabama at Birmingham to serve as a Personal Trainer at the Campus Rec Center and Strength & Conditioning Coach for UAB Athletics. Switching into the training of Division I athletes was invigorating and took me to another level as a trainer. Having mentors from a group of the leading Strength Coaches in the U.S. paved the way for me to play a role in the enhancement of elite athletes as a part of UAB golf, softball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, and tennis. Working with these champions opened my eyes to the intensity of which the mind and body can withstand.

While at UAB, I furthered my education in Exercise Science (CalU: MS) and Public Health (UAB: MPH), spending the last few years researching cultural barriers to regular exercise across all walks of life. It became evident that time, motivation, and lack of facilities are often the top three excuses that people have for adopting physical activity. In discovering these and many other barriers, I approached my close friend T.J. Crosby about growing a company that eliminates such barriers. Thus, HomeFit was born! Now we have becoming the leaders of in-home/on-site personal training for the Birmingham area!

Personal Mission Statement: My approach to health and wellness is that it doesn't have to be complicated, it's only a matter of having the proper knowledge. My mission is to educate every client with the tools that are necessary for achieving and advancing their fitness goals (knowledge, technique, etc.).
